sad chicken news

so a few days ago we lost one of our adult chickens. i hope it was just old age. but we went out to feed them and i only counted seven chickens eating. so i started looking for the last one because whittnee a few days earlier had shut the pen gate and one did not make it in for the night and had to sleep outside the coop. i could not find it. then Natalie found it in the hen house. it was laying down with its eyes closed and not with us anymore. i hope it was not in much pain. we have only had the chickens for a few months and it was sad to loose one. the hen was old i am sure it was her time. thanks chicken for the eggs given.

speaking in church

yesterday we had to speak in sacrament meeting. we had the topic of strengthening families. i feel it when really well. Kennedy and whitnee both gave little talks. Kirsten sang a song. Natalie and i also spoke. good job Natalie on helping the girls and giving your talk. Natalie was so stressed out to the point i thought she was going to throw the computer out the window. she really brought the spirit in and i think we got our thoughts out to the ward.

chicks man

so i was feeding the chickens the other day and i thought to myself. man if we lost a chicken to what ever we would be down on the egg count fast. we get about 5 to 7 eggs a day. we take what we cannot eat and sell them for 2 dollars a dozen. the kids take the money and put it in there Disney land jar. so far we have made like 32 dollars or so. if we lost the some chickens, and we had to start over it would takes like six months min for a chick to be old enough to lay eggs. so we went over to the old IFA and got 12 new chicks. so they are a ton of fun to watch. they are just like kids. and they make a ton of noise. but we like them.

I need to be more like Jenny

i hope she does not mind me saying that but i was up to her house about a week ago and i got to look over her blog that she had made into books. what a cool family history. then i went to a fireside tonight on how to be a better teacher. i thought to myself that some of my favorite lessons had great stories of the past in them. well how could i recall these great past experiences if i don't write them down. plus i don't what to have to recall them when my mind goes away. so i thing i will try this blog thing again. i hope i will be able to do more of this. also i may just randomly put things in here with dates if possible as i remember them so if i go all over the map you will know why.

so this fireside tonight was on how to be a better teacher. i don't think i got a whole lot from what was said. probably due to i have heard most of it before. but the good thing is the spirit was there and it really brought to light some things i have been thinking about. i really want to study better. i want to make sure those i teach in my classes feel the spirit so they will have that change of heart needed to truly follow Christ. of coarse keeping a better family history. and to write down things of my past that i would want to remember.

first off i think we may need to catch up with the last year and a half. things are good. we still live in our home in cottonwood heights. i still work at quality tire as the alignment shop manager. things there are good. the economy is down but i still make a good life for my family there. i cannot believe i have been doing my trade now for over eight years. how the time flies. Natalie is doing well she has gotten here medical stuff in control. i think she really likes being at home, volunteering at the elementary school. she has found some fun side projects, she is helping a neighbor with tax data entry for some side money. she gets up every morning at five to exercises. i am proud and happy for the progress she has made. Kirsten is now ten. she is in fourth grade. she has learned so much and is such a great help around the house and in the family. whitnee is seven. she is in first grade. she is learning math and how to read. she is quite the little artist. and bean is five and has been loving preschool. the newest thing to be a part of our family is we got some chickens from a friend. they produce eggs for us and i feel it is a good learning experience for the kids. the get to learn responsibly and earn a little money on the side. as for me my goals are simple. mostly i just want to get out of debt. i feel it is the biggest burden. but we are making good headway.

well that is a start. lets see how this will go.

lions and deer and pavment oh my

so last saturday mike and i went on a motorcycle cruze. we took 13TH east down and over south mountain. then from there we went over the alpine loop in american fork canyon. this puts you down in to the provo canyon. we then took the the road up the rest of the provo canyon and stopped in heber to use the rest room. mike wanted to ride from there up to strawberry res. i thought that was a good idea that way we could go on a road we have not been over before. we also decided that we should go further than that. so we road up daniels canyon by strawberry and on to duchane. we stopped there for some dinner. i got a steak and potato. always a good dinner out on the road. we from there we decided to take the route that would take us over wolf creek pass and into kamas. so we stared down that road. well we got to hanna which is the last town before you go over the mountain. it was dark about this time. we started over the mountain. on just the first few miles we were seen tons of deer. and i was geting worried about just how many deer we were seeing so i was really watching. we a little while longer about 150 feet infront of us an animal jumped out in the road bigger than a dog with a long tail. as we got closer i realized it was a mountain lion that we were passing. my heart droped in to my butt. crazy that is only the second lion i have seen in the wild. any way we continued on and saw tons more deer but it turned out to be a great ride about 250 miles. so that is my little fun story for last week.
